Richard Turere is the inventor of the “Lion Lights”.
The “Lion Lights” was an invention made to scare off lions.
He made the “Lion Lighting system” with items, worth less than $10.
The “Lion Lighting system” consisted of flashlight bulbs🔦, an old car battery🔋 and a solar panel.
This cheap and simple solution solved a BIG problem: protecting his father’s herd of animals, eventually leading to the protection of his community’s herd of animals.
This shows you how simple and cheap a solution can be.
Sometimes People overestimate how large a problem is, while the problem’s solutions are sitting right in front of you, staring at you.
This TED talk has also taught me never to underestimate the power of myself, you should never think you are too young or inexperienced to solve a problem, after all, problems are meant to be solved.
Richard could have just brushed off his idea- like people end up doing sometimes because he was young, or inexperienced.
Problem-solving doesn’t depend on age, it depends on your idea.
Wowww! This is amazing!
Kids are innocent, simple n pure at heart, that's why they can see, think, say n do things directly without overthinking. When they see a problem, they find a solution.
When they are happy, they laugh; feel sad, they cry. When they don't understand, they ask. It was the adults who ikeep shutting them down.
Luckily, Richard's mom did not kill him. Lol 🤣
