One of the ways to beat the Instant Gratification Monkey is by tailoring your environment.
This means setting up your environment in a way where your desired change becomes unavoidable.
For example, you can buy more books, if you want to read more, now you have to read the books purchased or your money would be wasted.
If you want to sleep earlier you can go to bed early and turn off the lights.
